There are numerous locations in Minnesota for a fun weekend getaway, including favorites such as Duluth. Pick a favorite lake or town and find a resort there that’ll suit your needs. Try a cozy bed and breakfast to spend the weekend.

Duluth has it all, scenic wonder and natural beauty; what more could you want? For an interesting history adventure, Ironworld may be the place to go. Located in Chisholm, Minnesota, in the heart of the state’s historic Iron Range, Ironworld offers a wonderful opportunity for visitors to discover Old World customs and traditions through living history interpreters, colorful exhibits and displays. Itasca State Park, the head of the Mississippi River, is one of Minnesota’s best parks. There’s plenty of activities for the whole family including bike riding, swimming and hiking.

Voyageurs National Park
If you love the outdoors, Voyageurs National Park is the place to go. Located in International Falls, Minnesota, it’s Minnesota’s only national park and close to the Canadian border. The water, accompanying scenery, geology and rich cultural and natural resources give Voyageurs its national significance. In the summer, naturalists offer interpretive walks, evening programs, children’s activities, canoe trips, a Junior Ranger Program, and North Canoe Voyages.

If you want to venture outside of Minnesota, our neighboring state Wisconsin is a good choice. Wisconsin Dells is a popular summer vacation spot; the Midwest’s favorite family fun destination. There are waterparks, shows, amusements, and everything a family could need for a fun vacation. For a small town, and scenic beauty destination, go to Bayfield, Wisconsin and Madeline Island. Bayfield is located right on Lake Superior, with beautiful beaches. On the tip of Wisconsin’s Bayfield Peninsula lie a group of 22 island jewels known as the Apostle Islands. Experience Superior’s crystal clear waters by tour boat, kayak, charter fishing or sailboat. LaPointe, the village on Madeline Island has lodging, shops and dining.
